60-second push-up 1v1

Think you can do more push-ups than someone else in one minute?

Calisthus Matchmaking puts two players head-to-head in a 60-second push-up challenge. Each player uses their own phone or laptop and camera, and both sides see the live score as the reps come in.

You’ll need to sign in with Google. No bots, and each person uses their own camera. Join the queue when you want; the 60 seconds start after both of you press Ready.

Find an opponent

Sign in, open Matchmaking, and tap Start matchmaking.

If another player is already looking for a match, Calisthus pairs you together. The system uses recent push-up pace (RPM) to look for a reasonably close matchup, but it isn’t a strict skill rating — anyone searching can be matched.

There are no bots. If nobody is available, you can stay in the queue and cancel whenever you want.

The same Google account can’t join the queue twice, so each player needs their own account and device.

Get ready

Once you’ve found an opponent, both players are asked to allow camera access.

You’ll see your camera preview and a Ready button. When both players are ready, the real countdown begins:

Get in plank → 3 → 2 → 1 → Go

The 60-second timer and rep counter start at Go. Waiting for your opponent, getting into position, or pressing Ready doesn’t use up any of your time.

One minute. Most reps wins.

Once the countdown hits Go, it’s time to move.

Both players use the same push-up counter as the solo workout. A complete rep is counted as up, down, up, so partial movements don’t add to your score.

Throughout the match, you’ll see:

  • Your push-up count
  • Your opponent’s count
  • Time remaining
  • Your current pace

You can press Stop if you want to finish early. Your valid reps are kept — stopping doesn’t reset your score to zero. The match can continue until the minute is over or both players have stopped.

If two people happen to appear in your camera, counting pauses on your device until you’re alone in the frame.

See your opponent while you compete

Calisthus attempts to connect the two players with a muted live video feed, so you can see your opponent during the battle.

There is no microphone, and the video isn’t recorded or stored.

If the video connection doesn’t work, don’t worry. The match still goes ahead using the live scoreboard, so a camera connection between players isn’t required for the competition itself.

Who wins?

When the 60 seconds are up, the server compares the valid reps submitted by both players.

More push-ups = the win.

If you finish with the same number of reps, it’s a draw.

The results screen shows both players’ reps, time, and RPM, along with a clear You won, You lost, or Draw result.

Your completed matches are also saved in your account History.

Your workout data stays private

Push-up counting happens directly in each player’s browser. Your camera video and pose data aren’t uploaded for the purpose of counting reps.

The optional opponent video is a live connection between the two browsers and isn’t recorded or stored by Calisthus.

For signed-in solo workouts, Calisthus can sync basic workout information such as reps and times to your account. It doesn’t save your workout video.

FAQ

How does Calisthus choose my opponent?

Tap Start matchmaking and you’ll be placed in the queue. When another player is searching, Calisthus pairs you together.

Recent push-up pace (RPM) is used to try to find a reasonably similar opponent, but it isn’t a strict skill requirement. There are no bots.

When does the 60-second timer start?

Only after both players have allowed their cameras and pressed Ready.

Both screens then show Get in plank, followed by 3, 2, 1, Go. Your reps and the 60-second timer start at Go.

Does my opponent see me?

Calisthus attempts to show a muted live video of your opponent during the match. There is no microphone, and the video isn’t recorded.

If the video connection fails, you’ll still be able to play using the live scoreboard.

What happens if I stop before the minute is over?

Your valid reps are saved when you stop. You don’t lose them or get reset to zero.

The match continues until the 60 seconds are up or both players have stopped. Whoever has more valid push-ups at the end wins.

Can I use the same device as my opponent?

No. Matchmaking is designed as a 1v1 between two devices, with each player using their own camera.

Do I need an account?

Yes. Matchmaking requires signing in with Google. Solo workouts can still be tried without an account.
